Growing up in the darkroom with my father at the helm, a now-retired corporate industrial photographer, I have literally been surrounded by photography my entire life. Not counting a couple table-waiting jobs early on, I am lucky to have spent my entire 25-year career with a camera.

I am at home at Harrington College of Design, a program I was hired to start from scratch in 2004. Today the program serves 250 AAS and BFA students. I have a tremendous respect for photographic education and the lifelong foundation it provides. This is a responsibility as important to me as family; I'm extremely passionate about photography and its sustainability as a profession. In addition to being the Chairman of the Photograpy Programs, I am a faculty member.

Before being awarded this post, I was the sole photographer at the world-famous Museum of Science and Industry for five years. During this time and now, I maintain commercial and corporate accounts on a freelance basis.

I hold a Bachelor's of Art from Brooks Institute of Photography and a Master of Fine Arts from Governors State University.

Visit my blog at dirkfletcher.blogspot.com for discussion of photographic tools and techniques, including some of the custom gear we build in my classroom and I use in my work. My book, "Digital Photography Lighting for Dummies,"was released in December of 2010 and is widely available.
